Baseball Game Preview: Hudsonville Eagles vs. West Ottawa Panthers

For the second straight game, Hudsonville will face off against West Ottawa. The Eagles will square off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hudsonville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Hudsonville's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They skirted past West Ottawa 2-0.

Not much got past Josh VanderLugt, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep West Ottawa off the board. VanderLugt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hudsonville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Baugher, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for West Ottawa and nudges their season record down to 9-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Hudsonville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6-1.
