Basketball Recap: Naomi Nnewihe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ocean City over Moorestown

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ocean City can now relate to. They lost to the Moorestown Quakers on the road by a 40-22 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Quakers are ranked 16th).

Ocean City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Naomi Nnewihe, who posted seven points and ten boards. She is becoming a predictor of Ocean City's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 9-4 (and 5-10 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Allie Hudson, who had five points and five steals.

Ocean City has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season. The win was the fourth in a row for Moorestown, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Ocean City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Moorestown, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 38-26 victory against Absegami on the 4th.
