Preview: Madison County Cowboys vs. Rickards Raiders

Madison County is 6-1 against Rickards since August of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Madison County Cowboys will head out on the road to face off against the Rickards Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Madison County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Madison County put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 44-2 victory over Chiefland on the road. Given Madison County's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Chiefland is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

John Christian went supernova for Madison County, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Christian was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Ryshard Miller, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.

Meanwhile, Rickards' four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They breezed by Arnold at home to the tune of 66-3. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-3.

Rickards' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Benjamin Henry, who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and Kemarrion Battles, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Jaishaun Frazier also helped out with an impressive 86 receiving yards.

Madison County's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.67 points. As for Rickards, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Madison County was able to grind out a solid victory over Rickards when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 28-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
