Baseball Recap: WISH Academy Owls vs. George Washington Prep Generals
After only one run in their last game, WISH Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against George Washington Prep on Thursday. The WISH Academy Owls came out on top against the George Washington Prep Generals by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Owls haven't had any issues with the Generals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
John Issa spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Jose Luna and Alex Handelman did most of the damage at the plate: Luna scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Handelman went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Handelman a new career-high in hits (three). Oliver Horton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
WISH Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for George Washington Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
