Preview: Louise Hornets vs. Schulenburg Shorthorns
Louise is 1-8 against Schulenburg since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Louise Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Schulenburg Shorthorns at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Louise and three for Schulenburg.
Louise suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Shiner, falling 52-14. Louise was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-30, which was the final score in Schulenburg's tilt against Flatonia on Friday. Schulenburg has not had much luck with Flatonia recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Schulenburg saw an underclassman step up: Grace Schramek scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Alana Herzik, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Louise's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-16. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for Schulenburg, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 18 of their last 21 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-23 record this season.
Louise didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Schulenburg when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 40-36 victory.
