Basketball Recap: Guilderland's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

If Guilderland was feeling good fresh off their 58-30 takedown of Ichabod Crane last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen took a 68-50 bruising from the Shenendehowa Plainsmen on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Flying Dutchmen of the 63-43 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Guilderland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooke Lilley posted 16 points and six boards. The matchup was Lilley's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Vivian Timmons, who put up seven points.

With the loss, Guilderland broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5. As for Shenendehowa, their record now sits at 11-3.

Guilderland will head out on the road to square off against Ballston Spa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Guilderland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Shenendehowa, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Shaker at 5:30 p.m. Shenendehowa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Shaker likes a good challenge.
