Basketball Game Preview: Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones vs. David Crockett Pioneers

The Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones will venture away from home to face off against the David Crockett Pioneers at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Elizabethton is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Sullivan East: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Elizabethton blew Sullivan East out of the water with an 82-53 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Fighting Cyclones had established a 25 point advantage.

Meanwhile, David Crockett was able to grind out a solid victory over Unicoi County on Thursday, taking the game 71-61. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pioneers.

Elizabethton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for David Crockett, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Elizabethton lost to David Crockett on the road by a decisive 64-49 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Elizabethton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
