Baseball Game Preview: Booker T. Washington Lions vs. Fisher Gators

Booker T. Washington hasn't had much luck against Fisher recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Booker T. Washington Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Fisher Gators at 6:30 p.m.

Booker T. Washington is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 23-0 to Bonnabel.

Meanwhile, Fisher made easy work of Salmen on Saturday and carried off a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Haiden Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Fisher got a big performance out of Charles Shamp, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Shamp is becoming a predictor of Fisher's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-2-1 when he doesn't). Tyler Mike was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Fisher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fisher's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Booker T. Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Booker T. Washington suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Fisher in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Booker T. Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
