Basketball Recap: Jagger Kleewein's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maxwell over Wallace

Maxwell was the 47-35 winner over Wallace when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Maxwell Wildcats took a hard 53-37 fall against the Wallace Wildcats on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that Maxwell has lost by exactly 16 points.

Maxwell lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jagger Kleewein, who posted two points in addition to five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Kleewein a new career-high in steals. Owen Pagel was another key player, putting up six points.

Maxwell has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Wallace, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Maxwell will challenge Sutherland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maxwell is facing Sutherland at the right time seeing as Sutherland is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Wallace, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wallace Wildcats take on the Dundy County-Stratton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dundy County-Stratton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
