Softball Game Preview: Destrehan Wildcats vs. Riverdale Rebels

The Destrehan Wildcats will face off against the Riverdale Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Destrehan picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Catholic of Pointe Coupee. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, Riverdale got the win against Bonnabel on Thursday by a conclusive 17-2. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Destrehan, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Destrehan took their win against Riverdale in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-7 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
