Baseball Game Preview: Bangor Slaters vs. Pen Argyl Green Knights

The Bangor Slaters will challenge the Pen Argyl Green Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bangor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Bangor beat Lehighton 9-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Slaters.

Nolan Koza made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Bangor: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-8-1 otherwise. He is becoming a predictor of Bangor's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 6-9-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaxson Kreider, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pen Argyl fell victim to Southern Lehigh and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 16-0 to the Spartans. The loss continues a trend for the Green Knights in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost nine in a row.

Bangor's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pen Argyl, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7-1.

Pen Argyl's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bangor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322.
