Basketball Recap: Chad Rostvet's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heartland Lutheran over Chambers/Wheeler Central

Heartland Lutheran lost against Chambers/Wheeler Central back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets came up short against the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades, falling 51-29. The Red Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heartland Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chad Rostvet, who posted seven points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Luke Olson, who had five points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Heartland Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Chambers/Wheeler Central found their leader in sophomore Michael Jesse, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Butterfield, who put up seven points and five assists.

Heartland Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heartland Lutheran will take on Ansley/Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Twin Loup at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. Chambers/Wheeler Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.
