Serrano has won three straight games at home, while Muir has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. Serrano will welcome Muir at 3:15 p.m. One thing working in Serrano's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Two weeks ago, Serrano made easy work of Granite Hills and carried off a 19-8 win. The Diamondbacks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Sam Conan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Serrano got a massive performance out of Cody Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Carlie Moore was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Serrano kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Muir suffered their closest defeat since May 11, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Mark Keppel by a score of 4-2.
Like Serrano, Muir also got a great game from a two-way player: Gianna (GiGi) Butler. She tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Butler was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Butler wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abigail (Abi) Milton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Milton's first of the season.
Serrano's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Muir, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Serrano has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .602. However, it's not like Muir struggles in that department as they've averaged .465. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Serrano was able to grind out a solid victory over Muir in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 5-1. Does Serrano have another victory up their sleeve, or will Muir turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
