Basketball Recap: Somerset Prep vs. Elite Academy Eagles
Somerset Prep were the 61-54 winner over the Elite Academy Eagles when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Somerset Prep took a serious blow against the Eagles on Wednesday, falling 72-30. While losing is never fun, Somerset Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Eagles are ranked 159th).
Elite Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Chin out in front who scored 17 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ladainian Brooks, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Somerset Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Elite Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.
Somerset Prep will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westminster Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 23 contests -- so hopefully the like a good challenge. Elite Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
