South Central is a perfect 7-0 against Jacksonville since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. South Central will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, South Central got the win against Havelock by a conclusive 16-4. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Colby Jones was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Brannan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Jacksonville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to J.H. Rose. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Cardinals couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jacksonville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaron Buie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
South Central's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
South Central was able to grind out a solid win over Jacksonville in their previous matchup back in March, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
