Mater Academy East Las Vegas hasn't had much luck against Pahrump Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Pahrump Valley Trojans at 3:30 p.m. Mater Academy East Las Vegas is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Monday, Mater Academy East Las Vegas earned a 6-3 win over Doral Academy Red Rock.
Syruss Marshall and Daniel Virrueta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Marshall tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Virrueta tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Marshall went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Virrueta scored a run while going 1-for-3. That home run was Marshall's first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pahrump Valley). They were the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Monday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Pahrump Valley got a massive performance out of Aidyn Cratty, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Cratty a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Whitney, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Pahrump Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Pahrump Valley, their record now sits at 10-2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mater Academy East Las Vegas has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pahrump Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Pahrump Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Mater Academy East Las Vegas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
