Volleyball Recap: Nixon Mustangs vs. Mission Eagles
Nixon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mission Eagles. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-21 in the first set.
Nixon took Mission into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 26-28, 15-10.
Hilda Quintana paced Nixon's offense, picking up 17 kills. Quintana got some help from Alayna Martinez and her 19 assists. Kylie Vega controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Nixon's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Mission, they pushed their record up to 2-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Nixon will be taking part in a tournament against Ray at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mission, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mission Veterans Memorial on Thursday.
