Softball Recap: Claiborne's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Claiborne can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Oliver Springs Bobcats.

Brinkley Hollin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hollin was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tayleigh Stansberry was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jacey Ferguson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Claiborne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oliver Springs only posted a batting average of .250.

Claiborne's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Oliver Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Claiborne will challenge Coalfield at 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. Oliver Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
