Desiree Beard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Pebble Hills got a massive performance out of Riley Cassiday, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Torres, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
Pebble Hills hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 6-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, El Dorado entered their tilt with Franklin on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 10-2 win. Considering the Aztecs have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
El Dorado also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Alyssa Lopez gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Nevaeh Matsuda was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Isabella Rodriguez was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI.
El Dorado pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pebble Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.
Pebble Hills skirted past El Dorado 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Pebble Hills have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Dorado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
