Basketball Game Preview: Maple Valley Lions vs. Stockbridge Panthers

Maple Valley is 0-10 against Stockbridge since February of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Maple Valley Lions face off against the Stockbridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Maple Valley is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They lost 46-22 to Kellogg.

The losing side was boosted by Ines Sanchez Feito, who posted seven points and eight boards. Mariah Vandorp also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Stockbridge played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against New Lothrop, falling 50-26. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Hornets are ranked 88th).

Maple Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Stockbridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Maple Valley took a serious blow against Stockbridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 67-33. Can Maple Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
