Preview: McDonough Warhawks vs. Hampton Hornets
The McDonough Warhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hampton Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hampton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on McDonough, who comes in off a win.
McDonough can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Lovett 68-24 at home. That 44 points margin sets a new team best for McDonough this season.
McDonough's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amiyah Dedrick, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dedrick has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Janique Trinidad, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Hampton suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 66-45 loss at the hands of Pace Academy. Hampton has not had much luck with Pace Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
McDonough's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Hampton, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
McDonough barely slipped by Hampton when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 52-51. Does McDonough have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hampton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
