Baseball Recap: Garden City's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Garden City entered their tilt with Annapolis on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They put the hurt on Annapolis with a sharp 18-1 victory. Garden City might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ethan Krol and Andre Davis were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Krol tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Davis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At bat, Krol got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Davis went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Armstrong, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Vanbelle, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Garden City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Annapolis only posted an OBP of .391.

Garden City pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Annapolis, they moved to 11-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Annapolis will host Inter-City Baptist at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garden City will be paying especially close attention to Annapolis' contest: after Annapolis faces off against Inter-City Baptist, they'll take on Garden City again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
