Softball Game Preview: Oxnard Yellowjackets vs. San Marcos Royals

The Oxnard Yellowjackets will head out to square off against the San Marcos Royals at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxnard's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so San Marcos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Oxnard's tournament run continued when they took on Thousand Oaks on Saturday. Neither Oxnard nor Thousand Oaks could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 5-5 draw.

Destinee Herrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

Meanwhile, San Marcos was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dos Pueblos.

Reese Large was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Even though they lost, San Marcos hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dos Pueblos struck out six times.

San Marcos' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. Oxnard's tie gives them a new season record of 8-4-1.

Everything went Oxnard's way against San Marcos in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Oxnard made off with a 12-4 win. Does Oxnard have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Marcos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
