Basketball Game Preview: Longmont Trojans vs. Erie Tigers

The Longmont Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Erie Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Longmont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Longmont made easy work of Holy Family and carried off a 59-38 victory. The Trojans pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Longmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Foot, who went 8 of 12 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. Foot is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dominic Lombrano, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Erie lost to Fairview on the road by a 63-46 margin on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

Longmont's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points over those games. As for Erie, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Everything came up roses for Longmont against Erie in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, as the squad secured a 67-34 win. Does Longmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Erie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
