Lockport and North Tonawanda are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Lions will challenge the Lumberjacks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lockport will be strutting in after a win while North Tonawanda will be coming in after a loss.

Lockport took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Kenmore East by a score of 4-1.

Meanwhile, North Tonawanda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lewiston-Porter.

Aiden Shingleton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Javi Ortiz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Aiden Reed also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

North Tonawanda's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lockport, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Lockport skirted past North Tonawanda 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
