Baseball Recap: Shamokin Area Indians vs. Williamsport Millionaires
Shamokin Area had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-8 to make it four. They lost 13-3 to the Williamsport Millionaires. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Millionaires this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on April 8th.
Logan Munson was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. Rylan Price also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Williamsport, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.
On Williamsport's side, Christian Franzen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Franzen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Williamsport: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Camden March was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Deshaun White, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Shamokin Area will venture away from home to face off against Warrior Run on Saturday.
