Preview: Poston Butte Broncos vs. Marcos de Niza Padres
The Poston Butte Broncos will be playing at home against the Marcos de Niza Padres at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marcos de Niza took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Poston Butte, who comes in off a win.
Poston Butte put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-0 win over Gila Ridge at home. Poston Butte pushed the score to 56-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Gila Ridge had no chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poston Butte to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Brooks, who rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown. Brooks' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Terraude Kisto got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Marcos de Niza's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their rough 44-20 defeat to Eastmark might stick with them for a while. Marcos de Niza was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Despite the defeat, Marcos de Niza had strong showings from DJ Drew, who rushed for 82 yards on only nine carries, and Antoine Anderson, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Poston Butte now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Marcos de Niza, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Poston Butte against Marcos de Niza in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 39-11 victory. Does Poston Butte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marcos de Niza turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
