Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southside). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Mattamuskeet Lakers 60-13. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 23 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Skye Wilkins, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Wilkins a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Michelle Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Southside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Southside is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Mattamuskeet, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southside and Lejeune will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. The timing is sure in Southside's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Lejeune has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. As for Mattamuskeet, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cape Hatteras at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
