Basketball Recap: Baker County Starts Season with Win at Home

Baker County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They breezed past the Suwannee Bulldogs to the tune of 51-15. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Leading Baker County to victory were Yamise Haygood and Jeniyah Ruise. Haygood shot 62% from the field on her way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Ruise went 7-for-13 en route to 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Haygood is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season.

Coming up, Baker County will face off against First Coast at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Suwannee, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
