It's playoff time, and Jefferson Davis County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Port Gibson Blue Waves 23-1 on Thursday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.
D'Zayvianna Peyton was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kavionna Myers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, four runs, and two triples. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chancey McRaney, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
Jefferson Davis County's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Port Gibson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
Looking ahead, Jefferson Davis County will challenge Southeast Lauderdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port Gibson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
