Baseball Game Preview: Cane Ridge Ravens vs. Lawson Lightning

For the second straight game, Cane Ridge will face off against Lawson. The Ravens will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Lightning at 4:00 p.m. Cane Ridge is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Monday just wasn't the day for Cane Ridge's offense. They came up short against Lawson on Monday, falling 9-0.

For Lawson's part, Sawyer Moore and Henry Sheaffer made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Moore tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sheaffer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Moore went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Sheaffer went 1-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base. Moore is becoming a predictor of Lawson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Lawson got a big performance out of Hudson Owens, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Owens has launched this season. Harper Schneiderman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Lawson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lawson moved to 15-11 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Cane Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
