Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rodney Beckwith and Levez Roper Lead Screven County to Victory

Screven County hadn't done well against Glenn Hills recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Gamecocks came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 67-54. For the Gamecocks, this counts as revenge for the 72-59 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.

Screven County was led to victory by LeVez Roper and Rodney Beckwith. Roper posted 22 points, while Beckwith put up 19 points. The game was Roper's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Hughes, who scored nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Glenn Hills lost, don't look at Makhi Tutt. Despite the final result, he shot 60% from beyond the arc en route to 24 points along with six boards and five assists. That was a full 44.4% of the Spartans' points, marking the third time in a row Tutt has had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Quail Johnson, who earned 13 points.

The victory got Screven County back to even at 1-1. As for Glenn Hills, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Screven County will challenge First Preparatory Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Glenn Hills, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on December 2.
