Baseball Recap: Carrabec's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Carrabec waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Greenville Lakers. That's two games straight that the Cobras have won by exactly ten runs.

Zack Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Carrabec is undefeated when Davis posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Newton, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Reed Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Carrabec always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenville only posted an OBP of .316.

Carrabec pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greenville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Carrabec will challenge Forest Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Greenville, they will take on Stearns at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
