Volleyball Recap: Lutheran's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Lutheran lost to Nerinx Hall back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Markers by a score of 3-1.

Lutheran had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-22.

Leading Lutheran to victory were Samantha O'Day and Eliana Sweet. O'Day had 15 digs and five aces, while Sweet had eight digs and two aces. What's more, Sweet racked up 14 assists, the most she's had over her last eight contests.

They weren't the only good servers: Lutheran was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nerinx Hall only served eight.

When it comes to explaining why Nerinx Hall lost, don't look at Leah Stephens. Despite the final result, she had 28 digs and one assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Garrett, who had four digs and three aces.

Lutheran's win ended a five-match drought on the road and puts them at 11-17-1. As for Nerinx Hall, their loss ended a six-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-19.

Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Hillsboro on the 16th. As for Nerinx Hall, they will take on Parkway South at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
