Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Branford walked away with it. They never let the Fort White Indians get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Buccaneers have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Laila Arnold's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexandria Whitfield was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cloey Criggall, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

The win was the fourth in a row for Branford, bringing their record up to 20-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fort White, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Branford will challenge Madison County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Buccaneers 3.2, the Cowboys 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Fort White does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
