Softball Recap: Central Noble Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Central Noble's offense. They fell just short of the Churubusco Eagles by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Grace Swank spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Central Noble and nudges their season record down to 15-7. As for Churubusco, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season.

Churubusco wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against Prairie Heights on the 25th. Hopefully Central Noble paid attention to the Eagles' matchup: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
