Baseball Game Preview: Agua Dulce Longhorns vs. Refugio Bobcats

Agua Dulce is 0-8 against Refugio since May of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Longhorns will head out to take on the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

On Thursday, Agua Dulce made easy work of Woodsboro and carried off a 14-2 victory.

Meanwhile, Refugio posted their closest win since March 1st on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Port Aransas 7-5.

Ray Lewis made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Franky Solis, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Refugio pushed their record up to 12-8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Agua Dulce, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Agua Dulce suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Refugio in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
