Soccer Game Preview: Providence Catholic vs. Lincoln-Way Central

The Providence Catholic Celtics will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln-Way Central Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

Lincoln-Way Central will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Providence Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Celtics walked away with a 2-0 victory over Montini Catholic. Given Providence Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Montini Catholic are ranked 340th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alyssa Thulin and Maggie Wolniakowski scored both of Providence Catholic's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Lincoln-Way Central made sure to put some goals up on the board against Andrew on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Thunderbolts. Lincoln-Way Central have beaten Andrew the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Andrew has come to flipping the script.

Providence Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-2-2. As for Lincoln-Way Central, their victory bumped their record up to 12-0.

Providence Catholic might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Lincoln-Way Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Celtics avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
