Madison-Grant has gone a perfect 5-0 against Wes-Del recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Argylls are taking a road trip to challenge the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Madison-Grant is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Madison-Grant came out on top against Elwood on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Argylls blew past the Panthers 10-2. The Argylls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Johnna Hiatt and Grace Wood did most of the damage at the plate: Hiatt went 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Wood went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Hiatt has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Carley Holliday, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Madison-Grant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Tri typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Wes-Del proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Titans 4-3. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.
Devyn Jaycox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Wes-Del's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Keylie Byrd, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kenzie Anderson was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Wes-Del and bumps their season record up to 12-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Madison-Grant, their record now sits at 15-6.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Madison-Grant has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Wes-Del struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madison-Grant was able to grind out a solid win over Wes-Del when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Argylls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
