Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Itasca's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Itasca won the last time they faced Milford and things went their way on Friday too. The Wampus Cats put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wampus Cats, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Daniel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Daniel was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Mears and Buddy Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Mears went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple, while Jackson went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Mears is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caden Littlejohn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Itasca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milford only managed seven hits.

Itasca is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Milford, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Itasca will head out to face off against Venus at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.43 runs per game on average), something the Wampus Cats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Milford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
