Baseball Recap: Menlo-Atherton Beats Sacred Heart Prep for Their Third Straight Victory

Menlo-Atherton barely beat Sacred Heart Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Menlo-Atherton never let Sacred Heart Prep get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Jack Molise's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Menlo-Atherton got a massive performance out of Ryder Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Kelly launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ronan Cutright, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Menlo-Atherton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sacred Heart Prep only posted an OBP of .130.

The victory (which was Menlo-Atherton's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they dropped their record down to 5-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Menlo-Atherton will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sacred Heart Prep: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
