Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Glenbard East

Glenbard East hadn't done well against West Aurora recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rams walked away with a 7-2 win over the Blackhawks. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 16-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Claire Bolda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alexis Amrhein was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Althea Fitzgerald was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Glenbard East, bringing their record up to 11-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for West Aurora, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.
