Basketball Recap: Dobyns-Bennett Takes a Loss

Dobyns-Bennett was the 48-45 winner over Southwest DeKalb when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Wednesday.

Southwest DeKalb's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jourden Smoak, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 16 points and five boards. Smoak has also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 63% every time he's hit the court this season. Thomas Glanton, III was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Dobyns-Bennett's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Southwest DeKalb, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Dobyns-Bennett will square off against Austin-East at 6:00 p.m. on December 5. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will challenge St. Pius X Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 5.
