Baseball Game Preview: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. Virgin Valley Bulldogs

Moapa Valley hasn't had much luck against Virgin Valley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. Moapa Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

While Moapa Valley's victory against Spring Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Spartans 7-6 on Saturday.

Logan Schouten was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Lucas Pettingill, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Virgin Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Spring Creek by a score of 10-8.

Mason Montoya was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Litzenberger, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Moapa Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Virgin Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Both Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley just can't seem to miss. The Pirates have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Virgin Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
