Baseball Game Preview: Hannan Wildcats vs. Teays Valley Christian Lions

Hannan is 1-9 against Teays Valley Christian since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Wildcats will host the Lions at 12:00 p.m. Hannan has given up an average of 13.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hannan is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Buffalo, falling 12-2.

Meanwhile, Teays Valley Christian entered their tilt with Tolsia on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 14-10 victory over the Rebels.

Ryan Breeding and Austin Jarrett made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Breeding struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Jarrett tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Breeding has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Breeding scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Jarrett scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ayden Arthur, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Brody Bradley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Teays Valley Christian pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Hannan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
