Spokane hasn't had much luck against Clever recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Owls will be playing at home against the Blue Jays at 7:00 p.m. Spokane will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Monday, Spokane made easy work of Galena and carried off a 3-0 win.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-9, 25-14.
Among those leading the charge was Carley Collins, who had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted over her last eight games.
They weren't the only good server: Spokane was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galena only served six aces.
Meanwhile, Clever beat Billings 3-1 on Tuesday.
Clever was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 25-18.
Spokane better focus on containing Anna Staiger and Allie Dunn as the pair were huge in Clever's win. Staiger had 18 digs and six assists, while Dunn had 12 digs. Staiger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
The victory got Clever back to even at 5-5-2. As for Spokane, their win bumped their record up to 11-2-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Spokane has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Clever struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Spokane came out on top in a nail-biter against Clever when the teams last played back in September of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Owls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Jays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
