Softball Recap: Shead Comes Up Short

Shead extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-11. They came up short against the Calais Blue Devils, falling 19-3. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Calais, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-11. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

For Calais' part, they let Sarah Wentworth and Peyton Beal run wild. Wentworth went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Beal went 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Wentworth has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Ellsmore, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Shead had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
