Basketball Recap: Granada Piles Up the Points Against Manzanola

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Granada on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Manzanola Bobcats out of the water with a 67-9 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-2.

Leading Granada to victory were Dayzriana Quintana and Emersen Hernandez. Quintana dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards, while Hernandez went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Hernandez a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Williams, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

The win was the third in a row for Granada, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.3 points per game. As for Manzanola, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Granada will take on Walsh in a tournament on Thursday. Manzanola will take on Cheraw in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheraw's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Manzanola's offense will have their work cut out for them.
