Baseball Game Preview: Nanih Waiya Warriors vs. French Camp Academy Panthers

For the first time this season, Nanih Waiya will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will head out on the road to face off against the French Camp Academy Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Nanih Waiya is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Nanih Waiya fell victim to Sebastopol and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 12-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when French Camp Academy took on Winona on Friday. French Camp Academy blew past Winona 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Eli Withers was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Robert Bentley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Logan Wright was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

French Camp Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

French Camp Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Nanih Waiya's loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Nanih Waiya came out on top in a nail-biter against French Camp Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 12-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nanih Waiya since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
