Football Recap: West Laurens Raiders vs. Oconee County Warriors
With a playoff win on the line, West Laurens rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Oconee County Warriors as they made off with a 32-7 victory. Considering the Raiders have won seven matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ty Cummings was his usual excellent self, rushing for 120 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cummings, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
West Laurens' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Jayce Blash: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
Despite the loss, Oconee County had strong showings from Caiden Wood, who gained 82 total yards, and Josh Woelfl, who gained 80 total yards.

The win keeps West Laurens at an undefeated 12-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 40.9 points this season. As for Oconee County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
West Laurens will challenge Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten contests. Oconee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
